Biographies
Executive Board member of Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG
Dr. Joachim Waldi was born in Bremen, Germany on February 7, 1959. After completing his schooling at the Kurfürst-Friedrich-Gymnasium in Heidelberg, he studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg, obtaining his doctorate there in 1989. The same year he began his career at Bayer AG. His first assignment was as laboratory manager in the Research Section of the Rubber Business Group; from 1991 to 1992 he was research management representative in the Rubber Business Group. He was then put in charge of research, development and technical marketing for latices for the paper industry in the Rubber Business Group. From 1994 to 1997 he headed Process Development.
From 1997 Dr. Waldi assumed responsibilities abroad. He transferred to Bayer Inc. in Sarnia, Canada, where he was first Head of Production and Technology for Olefins and later Head of Production and Technology at the site. He returned to Bayer AG in 2000 to become Head of Technology Coordination in the Specialty Products Business Group. From 2003 to 2004 Dr. Waldi was responsible for Technical Operations and Manufacturing at Bayer Chemicals AG. From 2004 until the end of 2006 Dr. Waldi has been Head of the Technical Services group function at LANXESS Deutschland GmbH.
Since January 1, 2007, Dr. Joachim Waldi (47) is menber of the Executive Board of Bayer Industry Services GmbH & Co OHG, now named Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG. Among his functions on the Board will be that of Labour Director.
